Urology
Urology provides diagnostic, treatment and surgical services to patients with disorders of the urologic and reproductive systems. The Department, located on the hospital's first floor, specializes in:- Incontinence problems in men and women
- Kidney stone removal
- Prostate care
The urodynamics and incontinence program at Good Samaritan Hospital provides patients with most advanced therapies to correct both common and complex problems.
The Peter D. Fugelso,
M.D., Urology Center, a Center of Excellence, includes Good Samaritan
Hospital's outstanding Kidney
Stone Service, one of the busiest in California. The program uses
a safe, noninvasive technique called extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy
(ESWL), which enables kidney stones to be broken apart through shock
waves that pass harmlessly through a patient's body. ESWL is highly
effective in patients of all ages, including rare cases of stones in
infants as young as 19 months.
The Center offers surgical treatment of prostate cancer (radical prostatectomy),
as well as high dose radiation (HDR), the newest minimally invasive treatment
technique.
