Physical Medicine
Good Samaritan Hospital's superb physical therapy programs have helped
thousands of patients to regain their strength and function. Custom-made
programs address each individual's needs, while a dedicated staff of
therapists provides compassionate care in a state-of-the-art setting.
Among those who have been assisted to achieve optimal functional levels
are:
- People who have suffered stroke or trauma
- Patients in need of wound care
- Patients recuperating from neurologic, orthopedic and other surgeries
- Patients suffering from urinary incontinence.
A Special Cardiac Rehabilitation program assists patients to begin and maintain healthier life styles. The program enables patients to feel better, get stronger, reduce stress and reduce the risks of future cardiac problems through exercise, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress management and patient education (including risk factor reduction skills). All exercise sessions are supervised by exercise physiologists who have been trained to work with cardiac patients.
At Good Samaritan Hospital, occupational therapists work with individuals of all ages who -- because of physical, developmental or social problems -- need specialized assistance to regain independence.
A special work hardening program enables those who have sustained job related injuries to gradually rebuild strength and stamina for the performance of workplace duties. Each program is tailored to individual needs.
Speech pathologists at Good Samaritan Hospital evaluate and treat both inpatients and outpatients who have communication problems. These problems may include difficulty in expressing thoughts and feelings, understanding what people are saying and/or inability to understand or remember what was read. The inability to speak clearly and fluently, voice quality problems and swallowing problems are also addressed.
Physical medicine hours are: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
